Those on-screen graphics were introduced on CNN International quite some time ago — I doubt the US version will ever adopt them (bear in mind that CNN and CNN International are two very different beasts in terms of their editorial content and presentation, never mind their graphical styles).

Great idea — I’m a big fan of those CNN reduced on-air titles (though, I haven’t seen them on actual TV yet…) I dig the first design a lot — the only thing I’m not crazy about is the CNN logo on white. It would be interesting to see the bright red CNN logo on the black header.
